AMERICORPS OPPORTUNITIES AT FMF
Families Moving Forward is excited to announce that we are partnering with the AmeriCorps VISTA program to serve as a host site. Beginning in August, AmeriCorps VISTA members will join FMF inn the fight against poverty and homelessness serving in one of four amazing positions. We are recruiting for four AmeriCorps VISTA positions which will serve from August 10, 2018 through August 9, 2019. Passionate individuals are needed for these AmeriCorps VISTA positions. This is an excellent opportunity for recent college grads, retirees, those looking for experience in a new field, and all who are dedicated to serving others.
VEA VISTA member will develop recruitment strategies for Families Moving Forward to engage new volunteers and retain previous volunteers, lead the Service Enterprise Initiative re-certification process. The VEA VISTA member will also design a process to increase volunteer relations between departments include restructure of the volunteer on-boarding processes and volunteer recognition program. The WDA VISTA member will support career and academic goals of FMF guests by cultivating relationships with employers and local academic institutions. The WDA VISTA will determine academic and employment needs among guests to increase the number of guests completing licensure and degree programs, and the number of guests becoming employed. The CPA VISTA member will support the Partnerships and Programs team, working directly with Children’s Services. The CPA VISTA will be responsible for designing workshop curriculum for children 6m-13 years of age. Additionally, the CPA VISTA will manage the afterschool programming for school-aged children, which includes recruiting volunteers and assembling grade appropriate material based on the NC K-12 standards. The APA VISTA will support the Partnerships and Programs team by developing a sustainable aftercare program for families in permanent housing. The APA VISTA will assess the needs of families in aftercare to develop essential programs that will be offered on a weekly basis. The APA VISTA will cultivate partnerships with community providers, local businesses, and organizations to facilitate workshops; and recruit volunteers to provide childcare and dinner.
